1. Data Collection
Rise is designed to work primarily as a local utility, with optional referral and purchase features.
- Information You Provide: Rise does not ask for your name, email address, or phone number. If you use the referral system, the referral code you enter is sent to Firebase to process the claim and to Amplitude as part of an analytics event.
- Referral Data: We use Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, and Cloud Functions) and the Google Play Install Referrer API. We generate an installation-specific referral code and track successful referrals to award tokens. We store a hashed version of a generated installation ID to prevent abuse and ensure each device only claims a referral reward once.
- Analytics Data: We use Amplitude to understand app usage and improve Rise. Amplitude receives interaction events, a persistent installation-specific device identifier, session information, app version, device and operating-system information, language, carrier, IP address, and approximate location derived from network information. It may also receive advertising or app-set identifiers when those identifiers are available on the device.
- Session Replay: The Amplitude SDK included in Rise supports sampled session replay. When enabled through Amplitude's remote configuration, it can record representations of screens and interactions to help us diagnose usability problems. The SDK applies its default masking, but replay may still include information visible within the app.
- Local Storage: Your alarm and timer settings are stored locally on your device and are not added as properties to our analytics events.
2. Permissions Used
To provide a reliable experience, the app requires the following permissions:
- Notifications: Used to alert you when an alarm or timer goes off.
- Exact Alarms: Required to ensure your alarms ring precisely at the scheduled time.
- Overlay / System Alert Window: Used to show the alarm screen even if your phone is locked or you are using another app.
- Battery Optimization (Ignore): Used to prevent the system from killing the app in the background, ensuring your alarms always ring.
- Vibrate: Used to provide haptic feedback and physical alerts for alerts.
- Internet: Used for referral and purchase features to communicate with Firebase and Google Play, and for analytics data to be sent to Amplitude.
3. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google): Used for anonymous authentication, storing referral data, and processing referral rewards.
- Google Play Install Referrer: Used to automatically attribute referrals when the app is installed via a referral link.
- Google Play Billing: Used to offer and process purchases of snooze-token packs.
- Amplitude: Used for product analytics and the session replay capability described above.
We do not use third-party advertising services.
4. Children's Privacy
The referral system is intended for users to share the app with others. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through Rise, please contact us so that we can address it.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
